Placencia, Belize
-- Jungle and jaguars, Maya ruins and cave swimming, snorkeling off the
world’s second longest barrier reef,
river tubing and Monkey River tour
and trail walk promise a unique
holiday this summer in the comfort
of Belize’s Inn at Robert’s Grove,
awarded a
star rating from Fodor’s
guide and five stars from Belize
Guide to Mainland Belize.
For $1,279 per person, 25% off of
winter rates, the 8 day/7 night all
inclusive Adventure Package
includes four, full day excursions,
accommodations, three meals daily,
domestic flight from Belize City to
Placencia, airport transfers, tax
and service, and use of the resort’s
kayaks, canoes, sailboats, hobie
cats, windsurfing boards, fitness
center, tennis court and bicycles.
The offer is valid from June 1 to
November 30, 2004, and is based on
two persons in a room.
Owned by
New York natives Risa and Robert
Frackman, the 32-room Inn in
Placencia, Southern Belize, has
impressive distinctions: the most
modern, well-equipped and best
staffed PADI dive center in the
area, complete with 48’ PRO dive
boat for
daily two-tank dives and diving for
whale sharks (during Whale Shark
Season, April through June);
a two-acre private island for “Swept
Away”,
get-away-from-it-all-vacations or
day outings, with three wooden
cabanas on stilts, housekeeping, and
an
island cook; fly fishing center with
new 23’ skiffs, licensed guides and
instruction and a chance for a
“grand slam” (plus a new “Out Island
Package). All of the tours are
resort operated so it’s possible to
book in late afternoon for the
following morning’s outing.
On 15 acres with its own
marina, the Inn offers beautifully
appointed hacienda style
accommodations, all beachfront or
beach view. Rooms and suites are
spacious and feature air
conditioning, ceiling fans,
telephones, cable TV, private baths
and terraces and rooftop Jacuzzis.
Other resort facilities include two,
50-foot freshwater swimming pools,
guest Internet and computer center,
and massage and nail Sea Spa.
Guests can choose from
among two restaurants, the acclaimed
Seaside,
said by Travel and Leisure
“to have some of Belize’s best
cuisine” and the new marina side
Habanero Mexican Café and Bar. Both
feature US imported prime beef and
local seafood. All breads and
pastries are baked fresh
onsite.
On the southern peninsula of Belize,
Placencia is reached by an under two
hour flight from Miami, Dallas, and
Houston, or 4 ½ hours from metro New
York to Belize City followed by a 25
minute commuter flight.
