Traveler’s
Philanthropy: Getting The Traveler Involved
A number of
tourism businesses are becoming involved in philanthropy –
soliciting guest contributions to support community projects in host
counties. This session will look at the range of types of what is
being dubbed the “travelers philanthropy” movement and discuss why
such programs make good social and business sense.

This session will review where ‘green’ tourism certification is
today, the growth of programs in the Americas and elsewhere, and the
partnership effort by WTO, Rainforest Alliance, UNEP and TIES to
promote socially and environmentally responsible certification
programs and to harmonize the criteria being used.
