SATURDAY, JANUARY 22
11am to 12pm –Public Seminar – Discovering the Fiji Islands
Presenter:
Adeline Erasito, Fiji Islands
Fiji Islands sponsors a one-hour session on the unique qualities of this island destination.

12 to 1pm –Public Seminar – Discovering Europe and Latin America
Presenter:
Bill Rodabaugh – Business Development Manager, Rail Europe Group including DER and Avanti Destinations
Rail Europe will cover a general overview of its rail products available throughout Europe, including passes, tickets and scenic trains such as the Swiss Trains. You’ll also learn about the company’s worldwide air, European car and land products including specialty hotels (B&B's, villas, Pousadas, Paradores, manor homes, etc.).

1 to 2pm –Public Seminar – Exploring East Russia – Vladivostok and Kamchatka
Presenters:
Dalintourist; Mirabel Tour; Kamchatintour
Winrock International hosts an educational seminar on East Russia. Vladivostok is usually the entry point for most U.S. travelers to east Russia and offers excellent bird watching in the Far Eastern Marine Preserve and visits to Amur Tiger habitat. Cultural experiences include visiting isolated communities that still represent the typical Russian lifestyle of the last centuries. Kamchatka is well known to adventure and active travelers as a land of fire and ice. With at least 70 volcanoes and uncharted wilderness, this wondrous land offers many possibilities to hike, trek, climb and raft. Its indigenous communities also offer interesting insights into lifestyles based on fishing and hunting.

2 to 3pm –Public Seminar – Chartering a Private Yacht for a Vacation Cruise

3 to 4pm –Public Seminar – Discovering Mongolia - The Land of Blue Sky

Nomadic Expeditions discusses topics ranging from Mongolia’s ancient history to its modern attempts to balance advances in society with the untouched culture for which Mongolia is known. Enjoy breathtaking pictures as we look through the eyes of award-winning photographers who capture the essence of the Mongol people and their traditions.
 

4 to4 to 5pm –Public Seminar – Cut and Suck: North American Bites and Stings
Presenter: Matt Stauffer – WEMT-B and Wilderness Medicine Institute instructor, National Outdoor Leadership School

Electric shock therapy. Magic black rocks. Cut and suck. These treatments have all been advocated for managing bites and stings of venomous creatures. This entertaining slide show will address common myths about managing envenomations and diseases. We will focus on pit vipers, scorpions, spiders, mosquitos and ticks of North America. Ensure that you are prepared and can effectively prevent problems or manage them. We will highlight the hallmarks of both well-known and newly emerging diseases. Be ready, it's a jungle out there.

5 to 6pm –Public Seminar – Discovering Adventure Sea Kayaking

Piragis Northwoods Company hosts a one-hour session on how to experience the adventure of a lifetime by sea kayaking throughout the world.



SUNDAY, JANUARY 23

11am to 12pm –Public Seminar – Exploring East Russia – Khabarovsk and Yakutia
Presenters:

Winrock International hosts an educational seminar on East Russia. Khabarovsk is an alternative entry point into east Russia for U.S. travelers, boasting the largest airport in East Russia. A cruise on the Amur River provides opportunities to visit local indigenous communities (Nanai, Ulchi, Nivkh) and adjacent nature preserves that are home to many rare bird species. In Yakutia, travelers can share in the lives of the indigenous communities of reindeer herders or cruise the mighty Lena River, which flows into the Arctic Ocean.

Check out the NOLS movie, "The Expedition" and hear more about skills, leadership and environmental education at the National Outdoor Leadership School. NOLS was chosen as the #1 place to learn wilderness skills on Outside Magazine's "Ultimate Top Ten" television series. All attendees will be entered in a raffle including gear from Patagonia, Outdoor Research, Nike ACG, Spenco and Mountain Hardware.

Topics covered will include why you should consider an active vacation, what are some popular options, what to look for and what to expect, and the Top 9 Myths about family vacations.
